Police officer shot in Suffolk, source says

A Suffolk County Police officer was shot in Coram Thursday afternoon, a law enforcement source told Newsday.

The officer was rushed to the hospital, the source said. The officer’s condition and the circumstances of the shooting were not immediatel.

The incident occurred on Homestead Drive in Suffolk County. EMS transported the officer to Stonybrook Hospital in stable condition.
Several suspects are now holed up in a location on Mill Road after one suspect is in custody.
Heavy police operation in the area.
Ongoing investigation.
