Norwood primary, elementary schools on lockdown following phone threat

PEORIA  – No threats were found at the Norwood primary or elementary schools after a shooting threat.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said deputies were dispatched at around noon to the elementary school for the threat phone into 9-1-1.

Both schools were immediately placed on hard lockdown.

The schools were searched and no threat was found.

Watkins says the schools put immediate communication out to parents when it was safe.

There is a large police presence at both schools until all students are released for the day.

Watkins says it is too early to call this an incident of swatting but there have been threats made state and nationwide.

County detectives are investigating the incident and are in communication with the FBI.
