A manhunt is under way in Dorset after a 34-year-old woman was stabbed to death and another woman injured at a beach near Bournemouth pier.

At 11.42pm on Friday night, officers from Dorset police received a report that two people had been stabbed on Durley Chine beach, a popular tourist spot in Bournemouth.

When emergency services arrived a 34-year-old woman from Poole was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified.

A murder investigation has now been launched.

A 38-year-old woman, also from Poole, was found with “very serious injuries”, police said.

She has been taken to hospital and her next of kin have been informed.
