Large fire breaks out in Newport – live updates

Emergency services have been called to a large fire in Newport. Fire crews and police are at the scene on Corporation Road in the city.

The road is currently closed between the junctions of George Street Bridge (east side only), Wharf Road and B&Q with diversions in place. Pictures from the scene show firefighters in attendance and smoke billowing from the roof of a building.

There are several police and ambulance vehicles at the scene, along with at least two fire engines. According to one eye-witness the fire appears to have been extinguished.
