Fatal Shooting Under Investigation in Albany

Albany Police are currently probing a fatal shooting that took place early this morning near Second Street and Quail Street.

Responding to reports of gunfire around 1:45 a.m., officers discovered a 46-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her leg and a 13-year-old boy with a minor arm injury. Both victims were promptly attended to by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening conditions.

Shortly thereafter, Albany Memorial Hospital alerted authorities to a 30-year-old man who had arrived at their emergency room with a gunshot wound to his back. Due to the severity of his injury, he was transferred to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Initial investigations indicate that all three individuals were together at the time of the incident. The identity of the deceased will be withheld until proper notifications are made to family members.
