UPDATED: Body of two missing kayakers located in Omega Pond in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.  — East Providence Police said that they have located two bodies in Omega Pond after receiving a call that they did not return home last night from a late night kayaking trip.

According to officials, police were notified around 8:40 a.m. this morning from concerned family members that two adult males did not come home after they told family they were going out kayaking.

One body was located a short distance from the shoreline earlier in the day.

Police located the second body a couple of hours later.

East Providence Police Chief Christopher Francesconi said the water at Omega Pond is very murky, but is a popular kayaking spot for residents.

Police could not confirm is alcohol was involved, or if the two men were related.

Officials said the identities will not be revealed into family is notified.
