ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. —
Police are investigating after a woman and her mother were killed outside the Hardin County Justice Center.
Elizabethtown police said Christopher Elder, 46, shot three people at the courthouse Monday morning while all were there for some type of domestic hearing involving an emergency protective order.
Officials said Elder killed a woman he dated, 37-year-old Erica Riley, of Elizabethtown, and her mother, 71-year-old Janet Riley, of Hardinsburg.
He also shot a male relative of the victims, who police say is in stable condition.
Police said Elder shot them “ambush style” in the parking lot after the hearing.
