An officer was shot in the face during a traffic stop on Don Ridge Drive earlier today. The incident occurred when officers approached a suspect who had a concealed firearm. The suspect opened fire, striking the officer.
Following the shooting, the officer was quickly transported to Tanner Medical Center in the back of an unmarked police vehicle. The officer’s condition has not yet been disclosed.
A CarrollCountyGA Sheriff’s Office spokesperson says a CCSO deputy has been flown to an Atlanta area hospital after suffering a gun shot wound early Tuesday morning.
The deputy was executing a search warrant when the incident happened on Don Rich Drive in CarrolltonGA .
The CCSO is working in conjunction with the GBI during the investigation.

The Deputy has been transported to the hospital and we don’t have updated condition at this time. Please pray for the Deputy, his family, and our department.
